I did vow not to buy anything until I was over the 20-week mark and we found out the sex, but I seem to have slipped a bit in the past few weeks...

I've always thought moses baskets are expensive considering the length of time Baby uses them so we had planned to use a crib for upstairs and the sleeper part of the pram downstairs, with a view to possibly buying another crib for the living-room. Then I found the Graco Next to Me Co-sleeper and instantly fell in love with the idea. I definitely don't want the baby in bed with us every night but I do like the idea of co-sleeping and I just know I'll be one of those paranoid mamas who reaches out through the night to check it's still breathing so it seems practical for us to have the baby as close as possible whilst still having it's own defined space. For the £160 price tag, the Graco crib seems- dare I say it- cheap looking and reminds me of a travel cot you can buy for £30 so I went on the hunt for an alternative.
The Snuzpod is the same idea, but has the advantage of a rocking stand and the top is removable so I can take it downstairs (the side just zips up to form a normal crib). I think it looks much classier than the Graco one too and comes in natural, white or grey. While it is eye-wateringly expensive at £199.95, we hope to use it until baby is roughly six months, and again for any future bubbas.
Quinny Buzz Xtra
My boyfriend and I both have quite simple taste so we knew we'd buy a 'plain' coloured pushchair. Ideally, I'd have liked a cream/sandy coloured one, but the weather in Glasgow really isn't practical for that, and let's face it, I'll have better things to do than constantly be cleaning the pram!
It seems that finding the right pram is a major challenge for most people, but I found it quite easy. We set ourselves a budget of £500 (which instantly ruled narrowed down our choices) and went to a few local shops to test a few out and get a feel for them. In the end, we only liked the look of a couple and eventually decided on the Quinny Buzz Xtra travel system. The all terrain wheels are perfect for the amount of walking we do, it fits perfectly in our boot and best of all automatically unfolds itself which I'm sure will come in very handy indeed!
You can buy a newborn insert so they can go straight into the seat of the pushchair but we also bought the foldable carrycot as I plan to remove this and have baby sleeping in it downstairs quite often. As Bubs will be born just as the weather turns colder, I thought it would be much more snuggly and warm in the carrycot too.
All in, we got the pushchair, carrycot and car seat for £539.99 which I thought was a cracking deal!
Graco Duet Rocker
Our other 'big' purchase has been this vibrating rocker/bouncer. Again, for the length of time this will be used I wanted a neutral one so we can get some use out of it for a second baby. Ours is an ex-display one I snapped up in the final few minutes on eBay for £40, so I didn't get much time to research it but reviews I've read since seem to be very good. I especially like the fact it folds flat and into it's own bag so we can take it with us when we go visiting!
Tommee Tippee Steam Steriliser
I'm planning to breastfeed but intend to express fairly often for Daddy and others to have a go at feeding. In addition, none of the women in my family have been able to breastfeed, so we're buying everything in just in case that happens to me. We've gone with the Tommee Tippee bottles as I have the most experience with them, and snapped up this microwave steriliser in Tesco for £10 recently. One thing I'd say is never to buy bottles or sterilisers at full price- bide your time and someone is bound to have an offer on at some point!
Little White Bear
I couldn't resist buying Baby's first cuddly toy while browsing The White Company website a few weeks ago. To tell you the truth I was having a bit of a meltdown that day about my changing body and this lessened the pain a little! It's the perfect size for a baby's crib and super soft and snuggly. He has '2015' stitched onto his foot too, which makes it a bit more personal.
Apart from a couple of little white sleepsuits and hats that's us so far. I have a list as long as my arm for both boy and girl so I'm sure there will be a shopping spree on the horizon as soon as we find out whether we're Team Pink or Blue!
