February Favourites

Since moving house at the beginning of December, it has been one thing after another in terms of spending pennies, which has not only been painful but also mighty boring. I've been on a spending ban since the beginning of January, hence this month's favourites are cheap-as-chips. Finally the house is sorted and we're able to loosen the purse strings slightly, so I'm looking forward to some nice treats in March, yay!

First up is the Natural Collection Eye Lines pencil in green. I had wanted something to help create a festive eye to pair with my LBD for Christmas parties but didn't want to spend too much because I thought I wouldn't get much use out of it. However, nearly three months on I'm still using it a few times a week. Surprisingly, the formula is creamy and highly pigmented with enough staying power to last an entire night out with no touch-ups. Most definitely worth more than it's £1.99 price tag. I actually have the black one on my list to pick-up on my next shopping trip, with the intention of hopefully being able to replace my Urban Decay 24/7 pencil for everyday wear.

My go-to Winter nail colour recently has been the Seventeen Gel Colour in Blackcurrant Bomb. Formula-wise, these are comparable to the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shines, giving roughly 5-6 days wear with a decent base-coat underneath. It's the colour that has had me hooked though: a gorgeous deep plum that suits my skintone both with and without fake-tan.

I had seen a few posts recently praising the Primark range of make-up brushes and tools, and as I was about to treat myself to the Shu Uemera eyelash curlers I thought it might be worth giving those ones a try and saving myself a fair few pennies. Now, I've never had the pleasure of trying the Shu Uemera curlers so I can't give you a comparison, but what I can say is that the Primark ones might well be the way to go if you're on a budget/new to eyelash curlers/sensible. These make an amazing difference with no effort, and are certainly better than any other drugstore curlers I've tried, even the heated ones (warning: do not use these with a few pre-drinks inside you. Ouch)

My final favourite is one I've loved for years, but forgot how much until I got it again at Christmas. D&G L'impératrice was part of the Dolce and Gabbana collection that was a big thing a few years ago. You remember the one with all the numbers, three male and three female fragrances? Well no.3 is the only one that has stuck around, and with good reason. This is a super fruity, fresh fragrance, with notes of rhubarb, redcurrant and grapefruit.  Every day I wear it, someone asks me what I'm wearing, even hours later, which is a true testament to a perfume. My only critique would be that the bottle is too plain to do it justice, and it's easily overlooked on the shelf- but then I suppose that means you're in less danger of everyone wearing the same perfume as you! ;)

Well that's it! Hope you all have a great month!
